(175) is a letter dated the 14th November, 1924, from Archdeacon Barnett, Secretary to the German Missions Trust, covering a copy of a letter dated the 18th September, 1924, from Mr. J. H. Oldham, Secretary, Conference of Missionary Bocieties in Great Britain and Ireland, with certain enclosures, in which the wishes of the four Secieties in

Hongkong are set out.

(176) is despatch No:323 of the 17th October, 1924, forwarding copy of a letter dated the 18th September from Mr. J. H. Oldham regarding the future of the German Missions

in Hongkong.

These letters from Mr. Oldham vere written in consequence

of the decision of the Secretary of State for the Colonies

to remove any discrimination against German Missionary Societies in regard to missionary work in the Celonies, etc.

Just after the letter (175) was written Archdeacon Barnett fell ill and the Bishop of Victoria being absent it was felt that it would be well to wait until his return and the Archdeacon's recovery before preceeding to come to any decision as to the future of the missions.

On the 2nd March, 1925, I met the whole body of trustees at the Bishop's House, Hangkong, when the above letters (175) and (176) were considered. The Bishop of Victoria, Archdeacon Barnett, the Reverend T. H. Pearce, the Reverend J. Kirk Macomachie and the Reverend T, Glouston Perri were

present.
